PARISH GROUPS
Below are some of the many groups that work to make our parish a vibrant center of our Catholic community. |
Rosary Group - Expand your prayer life! The Rosary Group meets every Wednesday at 6:15pm in the church. They pray the Glorious Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Novena of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Prayer intentions are welcome. PRAY FOR VOCATIONS! For more information contact Dave Schaibel at 301/791-2260.

Ladies’ Lunch group - This group was begun by Marge Robison as a tea. We schedule lunch on the third Thursday of each month at 12 Noon at a different location chosen by the group during lunch the previous month. If we are traveling a distance, we will meet at the church parking lot to carpool. The date and location is in the bulletin each month. It is also included on the monthly calendar which is inserted in the bulletin on the first Sunday of each month. If you would like to join us, contact Kim Fortier at 304/271-8861 or Susan Taksa at 304/274-3214 or call St. Augustine’s office at 301/223-7959. Sorry, gents, this is Ladies’ Lunch only. |
St. Augustine’s Stitching Group - A group of the ladies wanted to get together to make a quilt to raffle for St. Augustine’s. So, we chose a quilt pattern, began meeting and now have the quilt nearly halfway done. It is a needle-turn appliqué quilt with thirty 16” x 16” squares. Three of the ladies who are an integral part of our group have completed their second squares and two have begun a third. Another parishioner who hooks rugs began joining us on Mondays. We have a very lovely group. A few of us have quilted before and have been able to complete more than one square. The group expanded slightly when other ladies, who were involved in stitching something entirely different, wanted to join us. This includes one member from our sister parish, St. James, in Boonsboro. And sometimes her mom comes from Annapolis to join us for lunch, conversation, stitching and fellowship. These get-togethers are scheduled as permitted, usually once a week. For more information, please call Susan Taksa at 304/274-3214. |
Ladies’ Night Out group - This group was begun because of a suggestion from a parishioner who wondered why we could not meet at night to accommodate those ladies in the parish who work outside the home during the day. The location is chosen in the same way as Ladies’ Lunch each month. Husbands were invited to join us for our June 10 dinner at Cafe Del Sol and have been joining us each month since. We are thinking we may need to change the name of our group soon. The Ladies’ Night Out group meets at 5:30 pm the second Thursday of each month. For more information, please contact Kim Fortier at 304/271-8861, Susan Taksa at 304/274-3214 or call St. Augustine’s office at 301/223-7959. |
| Knights of Columbus - Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years of age. A practicing (practical) Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Catholic Church. The local Pangborn Council #1365 meets every 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 8:00pm in the Council Home at 20340 Leitersburg Pike. For more information contact Dave Schaibel at 301/791-2260.
